The family shared the following update:

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. – Psalm 116: 15-16

Dear Friends,

Early this morning our beloved Darrell Victor Beddoe was loosed from his bonds and welcomed into the presence of his Savior. He was 79 years old. Ruthanne, his wife of 57 years, was at his side. While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has imposed limits on travel and personal contact, his final weeks at home in hospice care were enriched by visits with his children, and grandchildren. Old friends found ways to communicate via phone, Zoom, cards, letters, emails and texts. The conversations were full of laughter, tears, memories, words of scripture, prayer and blessing.

Throughout the journey of his diagnosis and treatment for bone marrow disease, he maintained the same good humor and sweet spirit that he demonstrated throughout his life – his true character shining through right to the end.

We thank you for all your many prayers and gestures of love for Darrell and Ruthanne and for our whole family over the past months.

While we invite you to join us in grieving the loss of Darrell’s companionship here on earth, we also invite you to join us in resting in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection. We will share our plans for a memorial celebration when they are set.

With love and gratitude,
The Darrell V. Beddoe Family
